1st week in the field

First little bit in the field and a pretty good step forward. Soo my companion is from the Philippines and speaks Tagalog! I thought I was not going to make any progress in the language here in Washington/Oregon but it looks like I might have a chance. Not only that but he his home is in my mission boandries and he knows my mission president. Oh and he graduated college and studied culinary so he can cook. But I guess miracles like this happen to me often. I am already owe President White big time for arranging this and letting it happen.  I'm getting many new things I wasn't expecting on my mission. I have a phone, and I'm driving a car, I have more fun with that car than the phone. We need that car to drive through all the farmland, the people are mostly rednecks. I am serving in Pendleton Oregon and it's been tricky to get situated. We are over the McKay Creek Ward and the Pendleton YSA. We share the YSA with another pair of elders because the towns are s...

Kennewick, Washington

Dear Soulier Family, We are thrilled to inform you that your missionary has arrived safely to the mission field. Your son appears to be healthy, and in good spirits, and seems eager to get to work. Elder Soulier will be staying the evening in Kennewick, and will be meeting his Trainer on Wednesday morning, and then after some orientation and training, will be traveling with his companion to his new area Wednesday evening. Thank you so much for raising such a fine son in such a way that he is willing and worthy to serve a mission.  Just so you don’t worry, Elder Soulier is writing a handwritten letter tonight to be sent to your mailing address tomorrow. Also, his Preparation Day will be on Mondays through the end of his mission, emails will be exchanged then. Your missionary will let you know, in advance, if a Preparation Day changes due to a Federal Holiday or a special temple visit. Elder Soulier is in good hands! Do not hesitate to email or call if you have any questions or co...

Reassigned

As you already know I'll be heading to Washington, Kennewick!! My visa could still come in by, even Saturday I believe, and I could be flying to the Philippines but it doesn't look that is happening too soon. I just got my flight plane, I'm leaving the 19th at 11:15 and a direct flight to Pasco, it's a nice direct flight. There is one more Sister in my zone going to the same mission but that's it. My companion is going to Yackama? Washington. And others got reassigned to Wisconsin, California, Oregon, and Colorado oh and a few straight to the Philippines. I'm super excited for it and all the new opportunities this is gonna bring. I get to learn how to teach in english and then get more ready for the Philippines and Tagalog.   Just letting you know where my mission is quickly Love, Elder Soulier Hey, its been an exciting week with the reassignments. Thanks for the packages. The treats were a nice surprise, I enjoyed everyones note and those ponchos seem ...

Week 5 "Travel Itinerary and Chipped Tooth"

The weeks are passing faster here. I'm getting better at the language with learning more about sentence conjugations. Our class is now supposed to be 100% Tagalog. Even more missionaries have been coming into the mtc. This week I'll find out if my visa comes in or if I will get shortly reassigned to a new mission but sadly for me I have no chance of serving in the Salt Lake City East mission. I chipped my tooth this week eating a bagel (the food isn't that tough, I just needed to break it now so I could get if fixed in the mtc) but it was quickly resolved and tooth is all good. Elder Gong came and spoke to us, that was a great experience. Thanks Elder Soulier Chipped tooth These pictures are of my district, some classroom ones, and one with every missionary going to the same exact mission with me(except one photobomber) Later that day, he forwarded this: Greetings Elder Soulier:Your training at the Provo MTC is nearing completion. We hope you have found your time here...

Week 4 "Getting Closer"

Another week in the MTC, I'm more than halfway through this experience. The older missionaries in our zone left for the Philippines but most of them did get reassigned shortly to a different mission. It was sad to say goodbye, they all were great examples for the short 3 weeks we had together. But, we got new missionaries very quickly. Everyday I'm learning more Tagalog so I am progressing in the language. I'm not getting the best food or most sleep but somehow I'm still always awake for class. I learn so many new things everyday and I'm grateful for how much I am able to feel the spirit. Thanks Elder Soulier
