Nov. 20

Hello all Americans, South Africans and extras! Sister Soulier and I are doing a joint email today as we have no time. Also, we experience the exact same things so it works! Tuesday: Exchange with Sister Cobabe (California) and Sister Jung (South Korea) in Cambridge! They are great! Wednesday: Blitz.  We got bored of Ilford and so we decided to go a skip and a hop and jump over to Chelmsford!  Chelmsford sisters are Sister Lawler (Arizona) and Sister Calixto (Portugual).  We went finding with them.  Actually not many crazy people.  Chelmsford is super nice!  It was really fun to spend time with the sisters. Afterward we all got hot chocolate because it was freezing. Last week Sister Matthews and I were running full speed for the 128 bus to Ilford from Dagenham because it was nearly reaching 9:00 pm (in the night).  Right before we reached the door of the bus, a woman grabbed us from the shady alleyways and asked where we were studying...

November 14

Good evening :) Crazy crazy week as always.  Not sure where to start and where to end. Unfortunately Mark's baptism had to be postponed.  He is still coming to church and loves learning and wants to get baptized.  A concern came up and his baptism needed to be postponed.  We also passed him to the elders to continue to get ready for his baptism.  I'll keep you posted.   Eline is doing so fantastically well.  She accepted the word of wisdom no problem and continues to prepare for baptism on December 11th!  She is very prepared. Our other prepared favorite investigator, Jane Susan.  Pretty sure I already told you all about her.  Hopefully.  Her sister and niece recently got baptized in Gorelston (by Norwich) and told Jane about how they love the church, so now Jane wants to learn.  She was a referral from the Stratford ward.  She is so prepared it is so great teaching her.  Appointments last precisely 45...

November 6--Halfway point

Muscle Mark is gonna get BAPTIZED! Oh he got a suit.  The members are incredible and so Christlike and gave us suits. These people are just so amazing. Mark was walking around church with his fanny pack (he doesn't use a belt so he used the fanny pack to hold up his trousers  😆 ) and he approached us after the service and tells us, "Everyone says I'm like the Men in Black." Sister Matthews said, "Are they telling you that or are you telling everyone that?"  He just smiles sheepishly, "I am telling them that." Hahah So Brother Omoruyi gives us 4 suit coats and 2 trousers to give to Mark. Just unbelievable. Here we go to say thank you and his wife asks what she can make us for dinner and bring to church. These people are just amazing! And remember Jane? Yes still teaching her every now and then. Okay here are a few connections with people. Hope you can follow. Jane our investigatorish (the one who has gone to the Ilford ward for 10 years and no...

B is baptized!!

Yes yes yes yes yes!!! B got baptized!!! :)  Wahoo!  What a miracle.  oh my goodness what a miracle.  As you know or may learn, baptisms are never just a baptism.  There is always so much more that happens.  And the story is always fun after the baptism but during the event you tend to start questioning yourself if you actually want to have a baptism again and go through the crazy week.  Fortunately it is over and now we can just enjoy the story. Sunday morning Sister matthews and I go to church, trying to plan our talks and lessons because why would we prepare those in advance.  B is not answering his phone at all.  We go to church and he is not there.  This is the first time in 3 months he has not been early to church.  Sister matthews and I were so terrified he wasn't going to come.  Bishop came up to us in the first hour and asked if everything was okay.  Yeah of course!  Everything is fin...

October 24--Birthday week

Hi Fam! Thank you for the emails and videos and presents later!!!! Wow you are all the best. Really appreciate it :). So does my companion!  Oh I wish you could meet sister Matthews! She is fantastic! You would all love her. She is from South Africa but actually nannied for someone on 6200 south and 2200 east last year. Small world. She is a lot of fun and helps a ton with the area. Plus we get to reminisce about colchester because she was my stl for 2 transfers there. She is likewise 20 yrs old.  I'm sure I say this every week, but I can't think of a lot to stay. There is a lot to be aware of and so I don't think I have much space left in my head. Sorry about that.  B passed his baptismal interview! He was interviewed in Hyde Park so we saw him later that evening. He was wearing this snazzy new suit and was pretty chuffed about being baptised. After the lesson, he got his speakers and played some puff daddy song and strutted down the street like he was ...

October 18

Good Mornin! I heard the week has been well and autumn has come!  And that the primary program was great!  I can't believe it was your last one Lily!  Wow mom and dad must be getting old with all of the children outside of primary!   Can you believe transfers is upon us again?    Here I'll answer for you. No! As you may be able to guess from the title, "another one" has indeed bit the dust. So I'll just spoil what happened at the beginning. More fun.   Sister Swann has carried and inspired this mission but now unfortunately she is going to be released. She gets to whitewash train in a little town. She still has 2 transfers left on her mission.  Can't say I am jealous! She will be great though. I can't even tell you how good of a missionary she is. She has and continues to affect my mission so much. Definitely one of the most influential people on my mission life. I am so sad that she is leaving. She is a fantastic teacher and...

October 10, 2016

update on our friendssss... Muscle Mark.  Oh he is doing dandy!  He is so great.  Been to church 3 times now and has been taught almost everything except for lesson 5 and tithing.  Some things may have happened in the past so we may need to get an interview with President, but we will figure that out! Pretty sure that is the second or third person we have needed to send to President.  Mark has been listening to the Book of Mormon, he is now up to chapter 5 in 1 Nephi as of Sunday.  super good :)  His baptism will be October 23rd and everything is looking good for him! Joe.  Joe came to church again!  3rd time also.  Super good!  But he just comes for sacrament meeting.  Still working on the other portion. We taught him once this week--about the plan of salvation!  Went pretty good.  Got a little bit stuck on Adam and Eve but we made it eventually.  Plan of Salvation.  So important.  it is such a great t...
