Transfers!
Sister Cummings will be dearly dearly missed. She was a perfect
trainer for me and have taught me so many things. We have greatly
greatly enjoyed our time together.
I am so sad that this transfer is over. It absolutely flew by. Sister
Cummings is AMAZING and luckily lives in Centerville so we will be
together again! I am very grateful for this time so far on the
mission. It has been better than I ever imagined. And I am so excited
for next transfer!!
And so, I've officially killed off my companion.
And I found out who my new companion is! Her name is sister Shigekiyo!
She is from Brazil and sister Cummings was actually a sister training
leader with her! Small mission field world. In the past day that we
have found out, sister Cummings has just raved about her. She said if
she could pick anyone in the mission to be my next companion it would
be her. (PS this just barely happened...sister Cummings and I are on
our iPads in Hyde park center right now and emailing. President
Stevens just came up the stairs and said hello. He pointed to me and
said, "are you ready for sister Shigekiyo? Because with sister
Cummings and then sister Shigekiyo you'll be translated before the end
of your mission.") So if that doesn't go to show you how lucky I am
with great companions, then I don't know what will! Oh man I am just
so blessed!
And one more thing--this is sister Shigekio's last transfer! I'm
killing another one of my companions! Well, looks like I'm going to
the temple again! :) and will probably stay in Lea valley for another
transfer which I am not mad about at all. There are 3 different
families we have found and now I get to be here for a while to watch
them learn and progress in the gospel! Oh such good times ahead.
General Conference:
Watching General Conference in a tiny room all crowded around a
computer is the best. The talks and music are powerful. "Come thou
font" was incredible and I loved Sister Bonnie Oscarson's talk. It was
perfect for our investigator and reaffirmed the faith that this church
is absolutely Christ's church upon the earth today. Oh, so good!
Just a little confused...
People in England (or at least east London) pronounce "z" as "zed".
Why? Ya know, I have no logical explanation. So I'd love to hear your
opinion on why this strange tradition. Sister Cummings was telling me
about this the other day and she told of an experience she had an on
the street with "zed".
Sister Cummings is talking to a guy she just met on the street named Zaharias...
Sister Cummings: "How do you spell your name?" As she expertly holds
our tiny Nokia phone ready to put his number in.
Zaharias: "Zed-a-h"
Sister Cummings: texting on phone "Zedah"
Zaharias glances at the screen. "No, no, no. Zed-a"
Sister Cummings: "yes and?"
Zaharias: "no it's zed-a, not z-e-d-a"
Sister Cummings: (super confused American missionary) "what? That's what I put."
Zaharias: (probably questioning why he is giving his number away at
this point) "no there is no e-d just "zed".
You can imagine how much longer the conversation lasted.
Needless to say, we have learned an invaluable lesson in east London
slang. Innit? (Yet another beloved word here)
