Hiya Family!!!
Love the videos from Weber. Looks like everyone is having a grand old time. I'll admit, I completely forgot about Pioneer Day. And I keep forgetting it is summer. Although it has been so nice in England for the past 3 weeks. I haven't even needed a jumper! And I am getting a watch tan!! YAY Vitamin D. Utah looks toasty warm. Enjoy it all.
So I don't know how, but transfers seem to be on us again. Sister Guimaraes (contrary to popular vote) will be leaving Colchester. :( We are so sad. We have not been well today. It is SO hard. We are such good friends and absolutely love working together. She is an incredible missionary and I learned loads from her. I feel like missionary work is clicking this transfer in my head. I am understanding more and more of how it is done. We are finally getting into a stride and then transfers. :( We are not happy about it.
My new companion will be Sister Whitehouse. She is from Seattle, Washington and this will be her 2nd transfer. I am follow-up training her. That is all I know on her. Oh and she is 23 yrs old :). I will know more at next emails! Sister Brown is actually moving into my zone and will be follow-up training Sister Purdy (Sister who Sister Mussman trained) (I don't know if you are able to keep up with all the missionaries). So I am super glad that we will be able to see each other soon!! I am really excited :). And it will be super good for Sister Brown. The area she is going to is a blessed place.
This week has absolutely flown by. We had interviews, and then exchanges with the STL's and then Sister Guimaraes Birthday. Interviews were great--I talked about them last week.
Sister Guimaraes birthday was celebrated! I made her pancakes. She loved it. Then we went birthday finding. What a way to find people.
Sister G: "What is one thing you like to do on your birthday?"
Random person: "Ummmm spend time with my family."
Sister G: "Great! I love that too. I'm trying to get ideas of what to do, because today is my birthday! Except this year for my birthday I can't spend time with my family..."
Random person: (feeling slightly nervous now) "Why?"
Sister G: "It is because I left all of them AND my friends to come here and tell you about the book of mormon. Would you like to meet with us again so that I could tell you why it means so much to me?"
Random person: (Look of confuse and slight fear on the face) "Ummm yeah if it means that much to you"
in my head: yesssssssss
Nishtha--It is getting to be really difficult to teach with her background. The elders came teaching with us and we realized that she is not ready to be baptized. So we will keep working with her, but it may take awhile. I don't know if she is going to make it, but we will keep trying!!
Selam--She is from Ethopia and is in her late 40's. She has been to the LDS church in 2004 a bunch of times but stopped investigating the church for an unknown reason. She is on date for Sept 10th (cuz she will be out of town before that) and is actually progressing really well!!
---Story of her: Sunday afternoon we went to her home to have a lesson with her after church. We taught L1 with a really good member and Selam seemed to really understand. At the end of the lesson we taught Selam the right way to pray and she agreed to say the closing prayer while we all kneeled around her. During the prayer she asked Heavenly Father if the Book of Mormon was true and immediately the Spirit was so strong. I definetely felt it and my companion definitely felt it because as soon as I felt the Spirit I also felt an elbow going into my side from Sister Guimaraes. :) Yeah we try to communicate during lessons apparently. Selam wasn't able to recognize the Spirit then, but she will recognize it eventually.
BYE BYE! Talk to you next week. :)
Love, Sister Soulier
