Good morning!!!!!!!!
Wow why don't i first say i am so sore as i sit right now. Bikes are quite fun but tend to leave bruises. Also biking against fierce England wind with a flowy skirt...definitely would not put that on the to do list. But put it on the bucket list. Yes that for sure. Good thing Sister Matthews is here and that Hatfield is great! Also the prospect of getting more fit.
Okay first of all first of all I have to tell you a story. So sit back and enjoy and you better read everything. Then I'll tell you about Hatfield. (to give you a sneak preview we are all brainstorming and praying right now to find something fun to do all together for P-Day. And we've got nothing. Nope i lied we can visit the Kingsbury Watermill museum. Oooh thrilling) Okay so here's the story I am just still jitter with happiness and joy from the event.
Adam and Andrea! Sister Riguetto and Sister Matthews found Adam on the street this past monday and taught him. They scheduled a return appointment for this weekend with his partner. Which in itself is slightly alarming because you start worrying who the partner is and if they're married, if they'll accept the message, and so forth. Anyway. Sister Matthews and I visited them yesterday. And holy cow what prepared people we have here!!!!! Seriously it was such an incredible lesson. Sister Matthews and I just squealed all the way home. They were so kind! And they got married this past October--YES! (Although they offered us tea and coffee multiple times but we will approach that whole situation later). They asked absolutely fantastic questions. It was one of those time where they are so prepared that I have to fight myself from answering everything and just telling them the whole gospel of jesus Christ. Andrea was like, so I don't really understand repentance because we always had to go to a priest (they have a greek orthodox background) and it was just so hard and how am I suppose to...to which i jump in and say no no no that's not right we believe that repentance is between you and God and you can choose what to repent of and repentance is daily oh and in moroni 8:25 it takes about how repentance leads to baptism and this is the doctrine of christ and all of these feelings of guilt and shame will be wiped away by the peace that Jesus Christ brings that's what we do as missionaries we are here to help align your life to christ's. *in my head--oh gotta ask an inspired question* So, does this make you happy? Hearing this? *ehhh close enough*. It works they feel the spirit. Oh my days and talk about in tune with the spirit!!!! Adam said, "I remember coming home from talking to sister Matthews and Sister Riguetto and feeling really good." To which Andrea cuts in and says" yeah then I felt good when you were talking to me about all of this! And I feel good now! This just feels right!" Like are you kidding me. Is this real. The entire time we were just smiling away feeling engulfed in the spirit. So they are amazing. They are hoping that this makes them happier and better people. Um yes I believe the gospel of Jesus Christ is designed exactly for that. They are on date to be baptized April 16th.
There might be a few problems. They think their families won't support them on their decision and might even actively oppose them. Also Adam only gets to see his 5 year old son on sunday so he is a little unsure about being able to make it to church. We said bring the son he will love primary! Hopefully he does. Haha after Adam said this, Andrea said "okay fine then you can go to church the next week and I'll go this week! I'm going with or without you." I mean is this real? What in the world. What a crazy insane miracle!!! They are absolutely wonderful. Please pray for them and that their family will be accepting!
Okay yeah so that's the great miracle of the week. Let me tell you about this place!!! I love Hatfield. I love it here. We live in Hatfield and the elders live in St Albans. The church is in St Albans and it's part of the Stevenage stake (still not anywhere use to these west areas of the mission). Hatfield is a big uni area. All we do is walk campus to campus and find and teach students. The recent converts are incredible here and are all our age so it's just like hanging out with friends! It is wonderful. Daniel just got confirmed this past Sunday. He is a miracle in that he just knows so much. Pretty sure he is in Alma right now. Ridiculous. It is so so fun teaching uni students because you have to learn to teach like yourself. They are super open but also really smart and willing to learn. It's just the perfect combination.
There are some people we are working with here that are doing really well. Ilford stressed me out so much because there are 8 million people to keep track of whereas here there are only about 3 million. The quality and real intent of people here are wonderful too. It's a lot smaller and now we never take buses. It's a 40 minute bike ride to the chapel. I am very grateful for gloves and ear muffs. Also I use the speaker I got for Christmas and we listen to music while cycling. Crank up the mormon tab!!!
So yes life is great. Sister Matthews is an angel, I get to call and talk to Sister Brown whenever I want and there are no mice in the flat! Wahoo!
I love all of you! And i'll send photos in another email.
Cheers?
