Hiya!!!
So I'm just gonna jump into this email. Hope it's a good one.
We taught Tory. Wow that woman is a dream. Keep in mind she was an
atheist 6 months ago. We taught l3 doctrine of Christ!!!!! Classic.
She had a lot of questions about baptism. After we taught faith and
repentance we asked her, "what do you think baptism means?" This was
her literal response. Before we had taught anything---
Us: "What come to mind when you hear the word baptism?"
Tory: "Well, I don't know for sure but I have a feeling."
Us: "Okay so what's your feeling telling you?"
Tory: I think it's like a commitment. I feel like it's showing God
that I want to be committed to Him and follow Him. And it's the start
of the commitment to God. And I feel like there's a second reason too
but correct me if I'm wrong because I want to be aligned with the
church teachings. I think it's like a rebirth. I don't want to use
that word because it is like what you do before the baptism doesn't
matter cuz it does. But it feels like a rebirth in a way. Plus Jesus
Christ was baptized and we need to follow his example!"
Us: "Well...Alrighty then. So uh you ready for it now or should we
wait a couple of days?"
Honestly how. This is unreal. I don't even know what to say afterward.
Well here's a scripture that says exactly what you said and uh I know
it true. Yep. She is great! And her mom sat in a lesson with us over
skype. Her mom lives in Surrey and hopefully let missionaries come
over soon.
Sadder news...
We called Anderson and finally got ahold of him. He was driving to
Exeter. (That is the bottom of England). And he was moving.
NOOOOOOOO!!! Ah Anderson why?! :(. But he will still get missionaries
so we have to refer him. We are not letting him get away that easily.
It'll work out though. This is the Lord's work and He won't leave
Anderson.
Also Nora is hitting a bit of a barrier. She disagrees with a
commandment and wants to take a break from learning. The problem is
she doesn't even know if God is there. She has got to figure that out
before the commandment can be resolved. Please please keep her in her
prayers that she will have experiences that help her recognize God is
there.
Happier news...
A new friend came to church! He is so good. His name is John Kester.
His number was in my phone as "FI John CALL HIM". So we called him a
bunch when I was with Sister Matthews and he never answered :(. But
then technology came in handy!! I typed in his phone number in
Facebook and his profile pulled up! Haha gotcha! No escaping!! We have
been messaging him for the past month and he finally agreed to meet
this month. Wow he is so good!! Now I can see why there was a major
"call him" next to his name. Very grateful for the missionary who did
that. We've taught him a couple of lessons now. He is a pretty deep
thinker. I don't know if I told you last week, but in our first lesson
with him he was already firing out deep questions. He is the one who
is getting a Phd in aerospace engineering. He said, "okay so we have
3-4 dimensions here in a physical state. Does that mean our spirits
have more dimensions? Or are spirits who passed on in a different
dimension?" Uhhhhhhhhh so we need to ask God all of our questions.
Haha he is great though. Lacking a bit of commitment but he did come
to church this week!! John was going to a party in London the night
before but I was speaking in church so we convinced him this was an
event that he couldn't miss. (Yah thanks for the added pressure.) he
came to church all three hours! And it turned out that the party
changed last minute and so he was able to go to bed early! God works
in mysterious ways!!! He sure works!!
John went to the ysa class for the second hour and got called on to
say the prayer--which he handled just fine. And today he's going with
the priests and ysa to play football. Bless the ward for fellow
shipping. John is on date for June 11th to be baptized.
OH and the craziest thing happened this week! Which just goes to show
you there is work to do everywhere. Sister Lamb and I were on an
exchange with Sister Barnes and Sister Cook. It was getting to be
pretty late and we were all starving. So Sister Lamb and Sister Barnes
decided to go to dominos while sister cook and I wandered around for a
bit. But in the end Sister Cook and I joined the other sisters. Except
way too many people were at dominos so we went next door to papa johns
which was pretty empty. We were chatting with the manager for a bit -
he was asking about what we were doing and what the badges were about.
(Love the badges it's an instant conversation starter). One of the
workers come up to us and is friendly but doesn't speak much English.
But then he goes to a back room and pulls out his phone. He then shows
us a picture on his phone. IT WAS A PICTURE OF HIS BAPTISM. Literally.
This is not a joke. The worker at papa johns showed us baptism picture
into the LDS church. In his broken English and the broken Romanian I
have learned (basically how are you, good, thank you, Jesus Christ,
hallelujah, church) we found out he was baptized in Sheffield a year
ago. Which is out of our mission. We were so excited! Hey it's one of
our people!!!!! (His name is florin) COME TO CHURCH FLORIN!!!!! And
he came on Sunday!!! :) so cool. We've got all his info and will pull
his records over. AND he brought his friend to church. His friend is
Indian and doesn't speak a word of Romanian. Yeah I have no idea how
they communicate. But apparently they work together at papa johns. So
yeah. Now we are teaching his friend Naveen! Crazy. Miracles on
miracles. God puts people in our path. Absolutely. Oh I love this
work.
Other adventures...
Sister Lamb and I walked out of the flat Saturday night. She turned to
me and asked, "you have your keys right?" Me: "yeah, probably."
A couple lessons later we get home to the flat at 9:15. I check my
bag. No keys. Uhhhhh that's not good. Flip the bag and start shaking
it upside down. 50 pass along cards, 30 mints, and 10 pamphlets fell
out, but no keys. Uhhhhhh that's not good. So yah we locked ourselves
out of the flat. 9:15 on a Saturday night. The following Monday was
bank holiday and all the shops would be closed. Well. This is not
good. You'd think with our own set of keys each we would be better but
nope.
So the zone leaders had to drive us at 9:30 at night to the Stevenage
sisters' flat. They had to conduct a zone call while driving us and
Sister lamb was attempting to navigate elder Skinner at the same time.
It was just a mess. Made it eventually though! Stayed up late thinking
about my talk (why do I do this to myself) so both of us were
exhausted the next day. Totally brain dead. (Today all we have planned
is emails, groceries, 3 hours of work and 6 hours of sleep!!!!! I am
so excited I can hardly stand it) Sunday we got the locksmith there
and he couldn't open the door. So we got close with the Bobby pins
clearly. We had to go to the Stevenage sisters flat again that night.
Bless them for having us over. They are so sweet and super uplifting
to be around.
Last night we were so dead. We hadn't eaten all day, hadn't been able
to shower and brush our teeth, and just had pounding headaches. It was
a patient building night that's for sure. We had a lesson at 7 that
night and during it the elders called people in the ward and got us a
hot meal, breakfast food for the next day and toiletries. I am so
grateful for the ward and elders and the sisters. We just have family
all around us. They all saved us so much. You wouldn't believe the
amount the ward gave us. Shampoo, conditioner, milk, FROSTED FLAKES,
bread, butter, tons of fruit, chocolate, and 10 pounds. (That's just
some of the things. See it's so much!!!!)
LOVE YOU!!!!!
Sister Soulier
We are finally going to pick up our keys now. SO EXCITED TO BE HOME!
Can't believe it's already mother's day. I feel like we just skyped! I
don't know if we are gonna have anything to talk about. Jk I'm sure
there will be something. Should we stick with the 1:00 Utah time and
8:00 London time? To be honest this could change cuz next week is
transfers. (Ahhhhh what in the world?!?!?!?!?). So I'll know for sure
the time a week from tomorrow.
Transfers are indeed next week. Can not believe it. 5 weeks transfers
are very quick. And who knows what'll happen!!! Hopefully we stay
together.
