Heyo!!
So time flies innit? Sigh it's fine just going through a midlife
crisis every month. Really though, time is a strange thing!!
Oh and by the way, for those of you who don't know me cuz I literally
never send a group email, my name is Sister Soulier :). I have been in
England for nearly 18 months now. (See what I'm talking about with
time being strange?!?!) and have been serving in the number one
mission!!! (no really it is the number one mission. Like number one
created in the church. Sorry about it!) the England London Mission as
a representative of Jesus Christ. And I don't even know how to
describe what happened here. Good thing for emails cuz journals...yah
lets not get into that topic.
Anyway! I wanted to email and apologise for not sending a big one out.
Sometimes I can be so lazy and rubbish with emails. Bless you all for
being patient with me. Not that you had much choice.
I am emailing because this will actually be my last week as a
full-time set apart missionary. Wait did you hear that? Ah it's my
heart breaking. (Midlife crisises are quickening I see).
So crazy. I still remember at the end of my second transfer when
Sister Shigekiyo was making a planner for me and she said, "just wait.
You'll have 10 of these before you know it." How right she was.
I just wanted to write you all and say a few things that I have
learned here. I hope you like it and if not at least you know I'm
still alive and somewhat American! Although the Brits certainly are up
high on the list. I blame that on Sister Brown.
These things I have learned from many experiences. I want to share how
I came to know this things deeper even this last week.
I know that God lives!
Sister Uttamakul is from Thailand and has been in England learning
English for a month and a half. She didn't go through the language
program at the MTC. It didn't work out that way. Instead she came with
me in Dereham after 3 weeks in a purely English environment without
going through any language program. We have been in lessons where she
hasn't understand and hasn't known what to say. We have been in other
lessons with the same person and yet I will sit and watch her witness
of coming to know Jesus Christ (as she comes from a Buddhist
background). And she is an active participant in the lesson. The
difference was how much the Holy Ghost was in that lesson. And if we
had done enough to prepare, the spirit would be there without a doubt
and Sister Uttamakul would know enough English to teach as a
representative of Jesus Christ. She is a walking witness that God
lives.
I know the Book of Mormon is from God.
2 Nephi 2:25 "For, for this end was the law given; wherefore the law
hath become dead unto us, and we are made alive in Christ because of
our faith; yet we keep the law because of the commandments."
This scripture is speaking about the law of Moses. Commandments are
important. But the real light comes from Christ. Through Him we are
"alive". Centred on Christ, things become simpler. And that is how we
truly gain the light and happiness. Our faith in Him allows us to use
His sacrifice. We are literally made alive in Christ!! (Faith is a
power right Sister Swann???) Every single page of the Book of Mormon
contains treasures like this. Even the Isaiah chapters (well at least
I think cuz let's be real imma need another thousand years to figure
those out). I absolutely love the Book of Mormon! I know it has to be
from God because I learn something from it every single day no matter
where I read or in what situation and if I don't learn something that
day well then my day is just better because I read the Book of Mormon
and it still makes a difference even if I didn't understand at first.
Gotta face it--it is a fact!!! I know it!!!
I know Jesus is the Christ.
"He Lives! All glory to His name. He Lives! My Saviour still the
same." (I know that my redeemer lives). Difficult to explain
experiences but I know this is true. King Benjamin puts it
fantastically.
Mosiah 3:5-8 "5 For behold, the time cometh, and is not far distant,
that with power, the Lord Omnipotent who reigneth, who was, and is
from all eternity to all eternity, shall come down from heaven among
the children of men, and shall dwell in a tabernacle of clay, and
shall go forth amongst men, working mighty miracles, such as healing
the sick, raising the dead, causing the lame to walk, the blind to
receive their sight, and the deaf to hear, and curing all manner of
diseases.
6 And he shall cast out devils, or the evil spirits which dwell in the
hearts of the children of men.
7 And lo, he shall suffer temptations, and pain of body, hunger,
thirst, and fatigue, even more than man can suffer, except it be unto
death; for behold, blood cometh from every pore, so great shall be his
anguish for the wickedness and the abominations of his people.
8 And he shall be called Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Father of
heaven and earth, the Creator of all things from the beginning; and
his mother shall be called Mary."
I know He did come. I know He lives today still to heal, bless, and change.
God is good. I am incredibly grateful to have learned this from Sister
Cummings in my very first days of the mission field. I know that at
all times and in all circumstances and in all places that He is good.
He is working for our benefit. I cannot tell you how many times I saw
His Hand in my life. And it all started when we counted "Lord's Hand"
for the day at the U with the "calc 3 honours" group. (Not actually in
calc 3 I will never get to Kaitlin's level. If you want to hear a
story that gets funnier and funnier every time although not really
sure why, ask Bayley Smallwood. She'll explain). I have had so many
experiences that have led me to say with deeper and deeper certainty,
God is good. Mosiah 2:20-24. (Out of Book of Mormon). God is good! I
cannot say it enough.
I absolutely love being a missionary. I love England. I am so grateful
Heavenly Father created a perfect plan in which we could come to earth
and have experiences to shape and mould us to happier more capable
children of His. Christ's gospel has been restored. Everything is in
place for our happiness. It's just up to us to pray and ask and then
act on the answer we will receive.
GOD IS GOOD.
Cheers and SEE YA LA'ER!
Sister Soulier ❤️
Ether 12:6
(No I don't have a British accent. I wish!!!)
Oh and btw I get back August 10th but this is my last week as a full
time missionary. Cheers.
