It's been quite the trip. I got in San Francisco and, eventually, a whole big bunch of missionaries joined me. But the long plane ride to the Philippines was no fun. It is such a beautiful place here in the Philippines and so much different than everything I have always been used to. The driving is just always crazy. It's also been crazy with getting thrown around everywhere. First, missionaries go to the Philippines MTC and stay there for 5 days so we drove there and meet the mtc president, very funny guy. But, since I was already a visa waiter ( 11ish total visa waiters that are with me and 7 are all going to the same mission) they wanted to send us directly to our missions. So President Koster came and pick us up and we had interviews. BTW Pres. Koster is a very very special mission President, like if he doesn't become an Apostle after this, somethings weird. But transfer day isn't till next week so they have split us up with different Elders until transfer day.
I have been with the zone leaders in Marikina 2nd ward, Elder Maez and Aggabao, very good Elders. Now President didn't know this at the time but, Elder Montes (my companion in Washington) is from that exact ward. I got to meet his family!
We have been able to, right away, get to work. And man, it's so much different physically here than in Washington, very hot even tho it's raining season and lots of walking. There are many things I need to get adjusted to; the smell and the food mainly right now is very strange. The language is good, I can really understand a lot and always follow along with lessons (unless someone is blasting music next door, noise from the tv is playing, lots of rain hitting the tin roofs, or motorcycles and jeeps passing inches away from the door) so lots of noise that causes me to not understand them. The people are really something incredible, always trying to change so that I can feel better, the kids run up and give you high fives, the teenagers are all nice and like having fun, and people say I look like very handsome people like Tom Cruiz.
But, I will soon find out my area and who my trainer will be tomorrow and I'll get to explore that new area. Oh, I was able to baptism Bro. Raymond, a wonderful now member not exactly the same as what it is like in Washington. But sorry, I forgot my camera because we are still having to do weird things to finalize the visa.
Thanks Elder Soulier
